Gary Dennis has been named director of public safety at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville. He was most recently an instructor at the Arkansas Department of Correction Training Academy, where he taught basic and management-level classes and served as the department’s law enforcement coordinator. Dennis is a field training officer, and an instructor in CPR, National Incident Management System and firearms. He has a senior law enforcement certificate and a master of science degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Alabama. The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility honored 26 executives from across the nation, including Adriana Wilhelm, a lead programmer analyst for Tyson Foods Inc. in Fayetteville. The second annual Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers program recognizes corporate leadership and commitment to the Hispanic community among Fortune 500 companies. The native of Medellin, Colombia, is the project and team leader of a computer-based business intelligence implementation project for Tyson. She has a bachelor’s degree in international business and economics and a master’s degree in information systems from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. The Bank of Fayetteville’s newest member on its Washington County advisory board is Delmar D. Ferrell, a longtime educator in several area schools. Ferrell retired in 1997 after nine years as principal of West Fork High School. He works for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as a law enforcement chaplain and physical fitness instructor. Edward Johnson of Springdale was recently recognized as the Outstanding Older Worker for the state of Arkansas for 2008. Johnson, 78, is the full-time veterans representative at the Department of Workforce Services in Fayetteville. He has worked at the department for nearly 30 years, helping veterans find employment and assisting disabled veterans on special projects. Dan L. Worrell, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, was appointed in September to the maintenance of accreditation committee of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The not-for-profit corporation is the accrediting agency for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs in business administration and accounting. Worrell came to Arkansas in the fall of 2005 after six years as dean of the College of Business and Administration at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. The Walton College has maintained its accreditation since 1931.
