2 die in accidents on state highways

Two people were killed in accidents on Arkansas highways Friday, Arkansas State Police reported.

E. Scott Neal, 33, of Clinton was killed about 6: 30 a. m. Friday, while stopped on his Yamaha motorcycle on Arkansas 65 in Greenbrier. He was waiting to make a left turn, when he was struck from behind by a Dodge pickup, state police reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured. He was not named in the report, and it was not clear whether he was charged.

John W. Newberry, 45, of Pleasant Hill, Tenn., died about 6 p. m. Friday, after the tractor-trailer he was driving east on Interstate 30 near Prescott rear-ended another tractor-trailer driven by Lonnie Washington, 45, of Omaha, Neb. Washington wasn’t injured, but his passenger Pam Washington, 45, of Omaha was treated for injuries at Medical Park Hospital in Hope, state police reported.
