SILOAM SPRINGS — About 150 women from the business world learned ways to better their health and overall well-being at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital’s second annual Women Caring for Women conference. David and Sasha Jackson opened their home and welcomed guests onto their lawn for the Sept. 26 event.

Health-related vendors and businesses provided information on topics including fitness, art, gardening, nutrition, radiology, microdermabrasion and women’s and children’s services. One of the Jacksons’ bedrooms was even used to administer carotid artery screenings.

A tent was set up on the front lawn for the event’s featured speakers. Wendy Soderquist Togami, director of emerging leaders at the Soderquist Center for Leadership and Ethics at John Brown University, spoke about emotional intelligence. Dr. Gail Johnson of Millennium Foot and Ankle Associates gave a presentation titled “Oh, My Aching Feet.” Ellen Jones, director of Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital Nutrition Services, lectured about emotional eating.

More than 20 door prizes were given out, and each guest was given a gift bag filled with items donated by the hospital and participating businesses.

Jones and her associates provided brunch that included yogurt, fruit cups, granola, muffins and assorted fruit juices. A meal of spinach salad with grilled chicken, whole-wheat rolls, chocolate cheesecake and raspberry mousse was served for lunch.
