S.A.L.T. Academy set to begin later this month

BENTON COUNTY — An annual law-enforcement training program for senior citizens will begin next week.

The S. A. L. T. Academy — Seniors and Law Enforcement Together — is a training academy sponsored by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the Benton County Triad and the Bella Vista division of the Sheriff ’s Office.

The program runs from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, at the Prairie Creek Community Center on Arkansas Highway 12 east of Rogers.

The program is free, but preregistration is required. Call the BCSO at 271-1008 for registration information.

Speakers for this year’s academy will be Sharon Ledbetter of the Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross, Deputy U. S. Attorney Bob Balfe, Jerry Snow of Wal-Mart Stores Fraud Division, Capt. Ken Farmer of the Bella Vista division of the BCSO and Benton County Sheriff Keith Ferguson.

Training sessions will include identity theft, Internet fraud, Project Lifesaver, methamphetamine awareness and disaster preparedness for seniors.
