ROGERS - Providence Classical Christian Academy is expanding to a second campus this fall to accommodate more students in kindergarten through the ninth grade.

Started in 2004 with 39 students, Providence is expecting 155 students for the 2008-2009 school year. The additional space is needed to meet the growing enrollment for middle-school and high-school students.

Currently at the New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Rogers, Providence will expand to a second campus this month at the newly built First Church of the Nazarene on Pleasant Grove Road and Champions Boulevard in southwest Rogers.

The school is not affiliated with either church, but rather operates as an independent Christian college-preparatory school serving a variety of communities throughout northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri.

"This is an exciting time for Providence Academy," said Jason Ross, newly appointed headmaster for the school. "We are so thankful to the Lord for these two churches who have opened their doors to our ministry."

He noted that the school will go through an accreditation program this year, which will give clear benchmarks "to enhance us as an outstanding Christian educational institution."

The school will host "Providence Takes Flight"in November, a gala at the Springdale Airport to kick off the school's fundraising drive to build a permanent location as the school continues to grow.

Providence Academy is a Bible-based, university-model school focusing on classical education. Students at Providence attend classes on campus two or three days per week, while continuing their education under the close supervision of a parent on alternate days at home.
