Relocation won’t effect the market
Posted on Wednesday, May 7, 2008
Signs of a change in season, harbingers of warmer, greener days ahead, can be found throughout Benton County.
The signs are as familiar as the seasons themselves - at least, most of them are. One of those annual indicators, the Bentonville Farmers Market, is not quite its old, familiar self this year, thanks to change of venue.
The market, long a fixture on the Bentonville Square, has been moved to nearby Dave Peel Park this year to accommodate construction work downtown.
While this location isn't the one longtime market-goers are accustomed to, the market itself should offer a familiar experience. The market is held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday.
Market-goers got their first taste of this year's Farmers Market - the 32 nd annual installment of the event - two Saturdays ago. Reports indicate that the change of venue has done little to change the Market itself. That's good news - for the vendors, the market-goers, and all of us for whom spring really doesn't begin until the Farmers Market opens for business. It's One Great Thing, regardless of location.
