BENTONVILLE - Prosecutors filed a formal charge June 16 against a Bella Vista man accused of raping a 7-year-old girl.
Doug Dwayne Sillivan, 30, is charged with rape, a class Y felony punishable with a sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life in prison.
Sillivan is accused of sexually abusing the girl on several occasions from 2006 to May 2008.
He was arrested May 15.
Bella Vista police began investigating the case after receiving a possible child sexual-abuse complaint from the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division.
The child was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County, where she disclosed numerous instances of abuse from Sillivan.
The girl also disclosed that Sillivan had taken photographs of her, according to an affidavit of probable cause in the case.
Sillivan was interviewed by police, according to court documents, and admitted to raping the child. He also admitted to taking nude photographs of the child.
After his arrest, Sillivan's bond was set at $ 100, 000, but District Judge Jeff Conner later raised the bond to $ 250, 000 after Sillivan had someone contact the mother of the girl.
Conner had ordered Sillivan not to have any contact with the girl or her mother.
