Benton County Fair contestants face deadline

BENTON COUNTY ó Miss Benton County Fair Queen contestants will compete in fitness, causal, interview and evening gown categories. The winner will receive a $ 750 scholarship sponsored by the Benton County Fair Association. She will also receive a rhinestone crown, a satin, embroidered sash and flowers.
She will represent Benton County in the same categories at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock in October. A $ 200 expense allowance will be paid for travel expenses. The winner of the Arkansas State Fair will receive a trophy, a crown, flowers, an official portrait, a $ 400 cash award and a $ 500 scholarship to be used at an in-state school.
Queen contestants will compete for the Spirit of the Community $ 250 cash scholarship sponsored by John and Eve Adams. The award is based on community service and involvement in the county. The Miss Heart of the Ozarks organization, which covers the Miss Heart of the Ozarks and Miss Dogwood pageants, along with the assistance of Toni Bahn, executive director of the Miss University of Arkansas Pageant, are the official coordinators for the Benton County Fair pageants.
Held at 7 the opening night of the fair, Sept. 9, in the new Benton County Fair Auditorium, the pageant is open to 2008-2009 enrolled high-school senior girls and home-school seniors. Each contestant must be a resident of Benton County. Contestants may obtain an entry form on the Web at missheartoftheozarks. org. The baby contest and beauty pageant for younger girls are seeking contestants. Ages 10 and up will be held opening night of the fair, Sept. 9, in the Benton County Fair Auditorium. The pageant will begin at 7 p.m. Categories will include Miss Benton County Pre-Teen for girls 10-12; Miss Benton County Princess for girls 13-15; Miss Benton County Teen, 16-17; and Miss Benton County Fair Queen for highschool seniors.
Children younger than 10 will compete at 4 p. m., Sept. 10, in the Benton County Fair Auditorium. Categories include girls 0-11 months for Little Miss Benton County Teeny Tiny; girls 12-23 months for Little Miss Benton County Tiny; girls 2-3 years for Little Miss Benton County Toddler; boys 0 months to 3 years for Little Mister Benton County Tiny; girls 4-6 years for Miss Benton County Tiny Tot; boys 4-6 years for Mister Benton County Tiny Tot; and girls 7-9 years for Little Miss Benton County.
Girl winners will receive a rhinestone crown, and winners who are boys will receive a medallion. A satin, embroidered sash will be awarded. Certificates will be awarded to runner-ups and the audienceís favorite.

Previous contest winners are not eligible to enter again in the same age division. Babies and children up to 9 wear play wear, Sunday dress or casual dress.
