Despite opposition, Hendren still plans to offer helmet law

LITTLE ROCK ó In 2009, itís certain that state Sen. Kim Hendren, R-Gravette, will propose a law to require people operating motorcycles to wear helmets, he said.
A constituent sent Hendren a helmet intended to cover so much of an operatorís head that it might be too restrictive. But he still believes requiring a helmet is a good idea, and one heíll work to enact into law, Hendren said.
ì I wouldnít like that one (the helmet from his constituent ), but... Iím going to (offer the proposal ) anyway, î Hendren said.
Hendren, a longtime state lawmaker, has offered similar legislation in the past. In 2007, Hendrenís ìhelmetî bill, Senate Bill 40, would have required motorcycle operators or passengers to wear a helmet and goggles, glasses or face shields. Senate Bill 40, if approved, would have returned Arkansas to the ranks of states with motorcycle helmet laws, Hendren said in 2007.
