Voter registration deadline Oct. 6

BENTON COUNTY ó For people not already registered to vote, the deadline to register for the Nov. 4 general election and for several other elections is Oct. 6, Benton County Clerk Mary Lou Slinkard said in a news release.

The following elections will be held Nov. 4: The general election and nonpartisan judicial runoffs; a Highfill Volunteer Fire Department special election on the question of the levy of the annual dues by the department; a Pea Ridge Volunteer Fire Department special election on the question of the levy of annual dues by the department; a Siloam Springs annexation special election; and a Garfield annexation special election.

Voter registration applications are available at the County Clerkís Office.

Early voting begins Oct. 20 and will continue through Nov. 3, Slinkard said in the release.

There will be at least three Benton County early-voting locations ó and perhaps more ó from which to choose, said Christine Southard, county election administrator and voter registration supervisor.

Eligible early voters may cast their ballots at the County Clerkís Offices at 215 E. Central Ave. in Bentonville, at 300 W. Poplar St. in Rogers, or at 707 S. Lincoln St. in Siloam Springs, Southard said.

Early voting will be held Monday through Saturday ó Monday through Friday from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. except for Monday, Nov. 3, the last day to vote early, when voting will end at 5 p. m.; and on the two Saturdays preceding the election, beginning at 10 a. m. and ending at 4 p. m., she said.
