Sign law sent to council
Posted on Wednesday, October 1, 2008
GENTRY ó A sign ordinance will be recommended for council passage at its Oct. 6 meeting.
The planning and zoning commission, at its Sept. 18 meeting, gave final approval to a draft ordinance which would amend current sign regulations within the city and add the requirement that ìsigns must remain in good repair, structurally sound and without peeling, flaking or chipped paint. î
A portion of the initial draft ordinance requiring removal of signs within 30 days of a business closure was taken out of the ordinance proposal because of questions about signs being a valuable part of business property which could be reused by new owners.
