Gentry girls lose match against Farmington, but JV team wins

GENTRY ó The Lady Pioneers played three close games in their match Thursday against Farmington ó losing 23-25, 24-26 and 20-25.
ì The Lady Pioneers played very well, but were not able to eke out a victory, î said Pioneer coach Marion Killgore.
ì Terra Jones had a fantastic night as an outside hitter and had several saves, î Killgore said. ì Kendra McCainís net play was much more consistent. î
Having both Jessica Van Hook and Brittany James on the court as setters and backrow defenders helped in the effort. Ashley Oliva assumed the role of ëlibero, í which is a back-row specialist, and that aided in the teamís overall serve receiving.
ì The Lady Pioneers appreciate the fan support very much and will continue to work hard to improve in this new sport, î Killgore added. JV team wins
The junior varsity team came away with a win against Farmington.
ì They played very well, î said Killgore. ì Whitney Robinson had an incredible save in the heat of battle to win the rally, and Brittany Coffee did an outstanding job serving 14 for 14, to score for the Lady Pioneers on many of those serves. î
