Erica Leeman Merit Scholarship Finalist

Erica Leeman, a senior at Gravette High School, has been named a semifinalist in the 54 th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. She is one of 10 Benton County students among the 16, 000 semifinalists who are competing for 8, 200 scholarships worth more than $ 35 million.

Leeman is the daughter of Frank and Donella Leeman. She has attended her entire school career in Gravette.

More than 1. 5 million juniors took the test which was the initial screen for the program.

To become a finalist the student must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal and earn SAT scores that confirm the student's performance on the qualifying test. A detailed application including the student's descriptive essay and other materials is part of the process.

Scholarship winners will be announced next April through July.
