Bettie Niemann

Bettie Sue McKelvey Niemann, 71, of Gravette, died September 7, 2008, at her home. She was born October 25, 1936, in Minco, OK, the daughter of William and Estella McKelvey.

She grew up in Refugio County, Texas. A legal secretary, she retired from the Civil Service at Corpus Christi Army Depot, where she received numerous accommodations for her service. She moved to Bella Vista in 2004 and later made her home in Gravette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Neimann.

Survivors include one son, Henry Zimmer and wife Gale of Gravette; two daughters, Arletta Wallace and husband Kelly of Gravette and Dianna Gilbertson and husband Mike of Baldwin, WI; one brother, Solon McKelvey, Jr.; four grandchildren and one greatgrandson.

No services will be held. Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale. Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Kenneth Bates Kenneth Neal “ Butch ” Bates, 59, of Southwest City, MO, died September 6, 2008, at his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1948, in Sulphur Springs, the son of Troy and Jessie Ann Riter Bates. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He served as a gunner in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. Later he worked in construction. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, J. D., Troy and David Bates. Survivors include his mother, Jessie Bates of S. W. City; four brothers, Jerry Bates of Anderson, Paul Bates of S. W. City, Dennis Bates of Mountain View, MO, and Mike Bates of Tulsa; and one sister, Kay Drake of Siloam Springs. Graveside services with military honors are this Wednesday at 2 p. m. at Ozark Funeral Home in S. W. City. Burial is at S. W. City Cemetery.

Alden Austin Alden Austin, 84, of Rogers, died Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Bradford House in Bentonville. He was born January 7, 1924, in Maysville, the son of Alfred and Mabel Austin. Mr. Austin worked as a maintenance man for Performed Line Products in Rogers. Survivors include his wife, Deena Austin; one son, Rodger Austin of Rogers; one grandson, Reggie Austin of Rogers; one granddaughter, Regina Mouser of Dewey, OK; three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held September 4 at Rollins Funeral Home with Larry Hendren officiating. Graveside services were held September 5 at Maysville Cemetery.
