DECATUR - A 27-year-old Siloam Springs man, Freddy Hernandez-Naranjo, was cited for public intoxication and resisting arrest after jumping from the window of a moving car and being tasered by police.

According to Doug Gay of the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Matt West stopped to check a vehicle with its hazard lights on and parked along Arkansas Hwy. 59 between Decatur and Gentry about 11 p.m. Saturday night.

West noticed a distraught female, Cency Hernandez sitting on the railroad tracks. She told West that she had picked up her husband, Hernandez-Naranjo, at a party in Decatur and they were returning to their home in Siloam Springs.

Hernandez-Naranjo became delusional, his wife told West, and wanted to jump out of the car. His wife tried to slow down, but he jumped out the window while the car was still moving at 40 miles per hour.

Cency Hernandez told West that her husband ran down the railroad tracks. West walked down the tracks in search of Her- nandez-Naranjo, but heard voices back at the car and found that he had returned to the car.

West told him that he was under arrest for public intoxication.

Hernandez-Naranjo refused to get on the ground, and said he would not go to jail.

West drew his taser and when Hernandez-Naranjo tried to run off, West initiated the taser.

An ambulance was called to check Hernandez-Naranjo's medical condition and he was transported to the Siloam Springs Hospital.

The Decatur and Gentry police departments assisted with the call. Hernandez-Naranjo was cited on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication, fleeing and resisting arrest.
