Siloam Springs utility customers who live outside the city can drop off their recyclables or household trash at the transfer station during regular business hours.

Siloam Springs Transfer Station is at 1108 E. Ashley St., just west of Lincoln Street. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

During these hours, anyone can drop off recyclables at the transfer station for free, said Kristy Dee, city recycling coordinator.

Household trash can be dropped off for $ 1 per bag, said Randy Atkinson, director of the solid waste and street departments. It's $ 1. 20 per bag for those who live outside the city.

Larger items, such as couches and chairs, can be dumped at the station for a price based on the item's weight and size.

Siloam Springs trash and recycling trucks don't run outside the city, Atkinson said.

The exception is for those who pay for large trash bins, Dee said. Trucks will run up to two miles outside of the city limits to pick up trash from them. See TRASH Page 2 A "We even get some from Oklahoma," Dee said.

Customers who live outside the city are not charged the $ 10. 50 monthly trash pick up fee that city residents pay for the service, Atkinson said.

"It is my understanding that the city discontinued service outside the city limits a number of years ago," City Administrator David Cameron said.

People who don't want to bring their recyclables to the transfer station can use recycling programs that other trash haulers provide, Dee said.

"Outside haulers have a blue bag program," she said.

The city offers trailers to businesses for cardboard disposal.

Sixty-five trailers are spread throughout the city for this free service, Dee said.

Outside haulers pay $ 34 per ton to dump their load at the transfer station.

Haulers inside the city can dump for $ 31 per ton.

Roll Off Service hauls trash from the station to the Tontitown landfill.
