The Small Business Development Center will hold Guerrilla Marketing from 1-4 p.m. at the Fayetteville Public Library, 401 W. Mountain St. This seminar will cover topics such as the importance of stressing value, mining your customer list for fun and profit, attracting new business during tough times, making yourself the talk of the town, online marketing in a shaky economy and getting extra mileage from marketing and e-mail. Hours The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce will hold a Young Professionals Business After Hours event at 5:30 p.m. At Speak Easy, 509 W. Spring St., Suite 250 in Fayetteville.

Chamber new-member orientation

The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce will hold a new-member orientation at noon. The Oct. 9 orientation has been canceled.

Starting a Business in Arkansas*

The Small Business Development Center will hold this seminar from 6-9 p.m. at Arvest on the Square, 75 N. East Ave. in Fayetteville. The program prepares participants for the intensive business-planning process. Find out the major steps crucial to starting a business, identify key issues that will impact business success and discuss common pitfalls to avoid as an entrepreneur. Cost is $30.

SBA Loan Workshop*

The Small Business Development Center will hold this seminar from 2-4 p.m. at the Jones Center for Families, 922 E. Emma, Springdale. This seminar will discuss the SBA loan program, eligibility requirements and how to apply. The instructor, Pat Walker, is the SBA loan representative for Northwest Arkansas and will be able to answer specific questions. Those seeking to finance new business start-ups or business purchases and those seeking to expand their existing business are encouraged to attend. Cost is $10.

Web Page Design I Basic*

The Small Business Development Center will hold this seminar from 9 a.m. to noon at the Reynolds Center on the University of Arkansas campus. Participants will develop a basic small-business Web site and professional quality "pages"using hypertext markup language (HTML ). A comprehensive workbook is included in the fee. Participants should have worked with word processing and Internet. Speaker is Denise Brooks, Alexis Information Systems. Cost is $65.

Web Page Design II Advanced*

The Small Business Development Center will hold this seminar from 1-4 p.m. at the Reynolds Center on the University of Arkansas campus. Attendees will learn how to use check boxes, radio buttons, drop-down boxes, hidden fields and more. They will also configure a basic shopping cart. Fee includes 30-page workbook. Speaker is Denise Brooks, Alexis Information Systems. Cost is $65. Those registering for both sessions will receive a $5 discount on each seminar and lunch will be provided.

Productivity Secrets for Women*

The Small Business Development Center will hold this class from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fayetteville Public Library, 401 W. Mountain St. This interactive seminar will include tips on how to delegate (at work and at home), prioritize tasks, manage a schedule, communicate more effectively and put more fun in the day. Speaker: Kim Hodous, Balanced Working Mom.
