Our favorite stories are the ones in which the hero doesn't feel like they've done anything special.

Take 12-year-old Bradley Wilson, for instance. The Washington County youth and his 6-year-old brother were minding their own business as they walked down a rural path Monday morning when, out of nowhere, a green four-door car came blazing toward them.

Bradley didn't have time to think twice. He pushed his younger brother out of the way and was struck by the speeding motorist - who didn't bother stopping. Happily, Wilson was not seriously injured, and was later treated and released from Washington Regional Medical Center.

The bravery shown by this boy stands in stark contrast to the cowardice demonstrated by the driver of the car. It occurs to us that the driver may be a lot older than the kid he struck, but at 12 years of age, Wilson is more of an adult, and wiser to boot.
