As part of its 15th season celebration, the Walton Arts Center will award the prestigious Helen R. Walton Distinguished Achievement Award to Billie Jo Starr and the annual Bravo Award to Paul Prebil, formerly a team leader at the Gillette Company.

The first Helen R. Walton Award was given to Helen Walton during the center's 10th anniversary season for her many contributions to the arts community and Northwest Arkansas.

Starr has supported WAC since its visionary years and continues to be a dedicated advocate for arts in the community. She has served as a volunteer, fund-raiser, patron, consultant, board member and hostess for countless events for the center, the North Arkansas Symphony, the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow and other local arts organizations.

Under the leadership of Prebil, this year's Bravo Award recipient, the Gillette Company set a standard for corporate giving for the arts for Northwest Arkansas. During this time, the company became the season sponsor and helped the center present such high-profile performers as Bill Cosby, Martina McBride, Tony Bennett and Michael Buble. The company's sponsorship also helped subsidize educational activities for Benton County Boys & Girls Club members to attend spring-break camps and other WAC events.
