Cooler mornings seem to be bringing bass out of their summer depths and anglers are taking advantage by slinging topwater lures. That August sun is still hot, however, so deep plastics still rule the afternoon hours. Have a great weekend and enjoy your Labor Day. Beaver Lake Southtown Sporting Goods - Frank Divis reports an early topwater bass bite, especially near Point 11. Nighttime bass action is fair on jigs, spinnerbaits and plastics. Bream fishing is good on crickets. Crappie are hitting minnows fished near brush around boat docks. Catfish are hitting rod and reels baited with chicken liver or small bream. Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers - Aaron Jolliff says cooler weather has improved topwater action for bass. Jigging spoons will also work when anglers are following the shad and waiting for surface action. Most bass continue to be deep, where they'll hit finesse plastics rigged on drop-shots.

Hickory Creek Marina - Bass fishing has picked up according to Bill Pope, with quality being better than quantity. Plastics are best except for some topwater action early and late. Schooling bass have been reported in the War Eagle arm, the Horseshoe Bend cut and the water intake. Crappie are tight to brush and will hit minnows and jigs. Trollers are catching crappie on Bandits or jointed Shad Raps. Catfish are being caught on bream and liver fished outside flooded brush. Walleye are hitting worms rigged on a jig head or worm harness and trolled near flat edges.

Beaver Tailwaters - Beaver Dam Store reports good fly fishing on pheasant tails, black woolly buggers, scuds, sow bugs, Norfork Specials, San Juan worms, Jensen Minnows, and crawdad patterns. The top lures are Shad Raps, Rapala Countdowns, Kastmasters (silver / blue ), and Roostertails (black / silver ). Bait anglers are using wax worms, night crawlers and Power Bait (orange / yellow / white / green ).

Lake Fayetteville - Dollie Black says blue gill are biting crickets. Bass will hit a shallow-running crankbait and a topwater lure. White bass like both minnows and crickets.

Lake Sequoyah - Jackie Smith says fishing's a little better despite the lake's murky conditions. Crappie will hit minnows and redheaded Roadrunners. Catfish action is fair on worms, liver and minnows. Bass are biting spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and topwater plugs. Bream are fair on worms and crickets.

Bella Vista Lakes - Justin at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bentonville reports bass moving up to the shallows and hitting jigs and plastics. Bream action is good down to eight feet. Crappie fishing is slow. Catfishing is good on stink bait and night crawlers, especially on Loch Lomond and Ann.

Upper Table Rock Lake - J. D. Fletcher reports a good topwater bass bite in the mornings. Spooks and Pop-Rs are getting lots of play right now. When the sun gets high, anglers should switch to Crawling Grubs, Model-A Bombers and tubes and fish points and main shorelines. Drop-shot rigs are also producing a few bass.

Kings River - Guide J. D. Fletcher says smallmouth bass are biting tubes (pumpkin, watermelon ), Rebel Wee-Rs and Model-A Bombers.
