Denefe

Matthew Denefe earned his Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts on Sept. 20. He is from Troop 2144 and Venture Crew 2 in Rogers.

Denefe is a sophomore at Rogers High School and is an "A"student, member of the RHS basketball team and RHS band among other clubs and activities. He is also a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where he is an active member of their youth group and serves in a variety of ministries.

Troop 2144 is chartered by Rogers-Bentonville Elks Lodge 2144. For his project, Denefe decided to give back to the Elks for all they have done to support their troop since the Elks first chartered them in 1996. The Elks have seen a large increase in their membership. Denefe noticed that the back area of the Elks Lodge could use a little sprucing up so the members could have a place to relax, have fun and enjoy some family time.

Denefe and his troop constructed three oversized picnic tables, three park benches, two horseshoe courts and a large fire ring, making the back area very inviting.

The Elks are very pleased with their new recreation area. They are also grateful for how much the community businesses contributed to the project. Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Lonnie Copelin, McClinton Anchor Rock, and Pinnacle Investments were among contributors.
