National Public Lands Day Three events are scheduled for Sept. 27 at Hobbs State Park in honor of National Public Lands Day. Volunteers will meet at the Maintenance Complex on War Eagle Road, just south of Highway 12 to work on trails and signs in the park. Free guided tours will be given at Shaddox Hollow trail and Historic Van Winkle Hollow trail beginning at 9 a.m. The fifth astronomy clinic of the year will begin at 7 p.m. at the Hidden Diversity Multi-Use Trail parking lot on Townsend Ridge Road. Turkey Shoot and Rib Cook-off The Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department's 15 th annual Turkey Shoot and Rib Cook-off is set to begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 27 at NEBCO Fire Station No. 1, U. S. Highway 62 and South Wimpy Jones Road in Garfield. In addition to shotgun, poker and claybird turkey shoots, there will be bingo, both silent and live auctions, an allday long raffle with prizes, the human bowling ball game, live music, plus games and prizes for the kids. Lunch will be served from 11: 30 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m. The menu includes St. Louis style ribs, pulled pork, chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and a drink.
