Volleyball Rogers vs. Heritage The first freshmen volleyball matchup between the two Rogers schools went the full distance.
In the end, the host Lady Mounties were able to come back and hold off Rogers Heritage 2-1 (21-25, 25-11, 25-18 ) on Sept. 22.
Rogers vs. Springdale A little confidence carried Rogers a long way Sept. 23.
The Lady Mounties, fresh off a strong showing at the Springfield (Mo. ) Volleyball Classic, sprinted past visiting Springdale Har-Ber for a 7 A-West Conference sweep (25-15, 25-23, 25-18 ).
The Lady Mounties (13-5, 4-2 ) ran away from Har-Ber in Game 1, held off the Lady Wildcats'late run in Game 2 and was solid in Game 3.
Rogers vs. Heritage The new rivalry might have thrown the Rogers Lady Mounties off their game a little Sept. 25.
The senior-laden volleyball team had more errors than usual but still took care of first-year program Rogers Heritage at War Eagle Arena.
The Lady Mounties swept Heritage 25-13, 25-14, 25-16 in the first meeting between the Rogers schools.
Rogers ran away with Game 1 but the Lady War Eagles (1-18, 0-7 ) stayed close in the final two sets. Tennis Rogers vs. Fayetteville Rogers and Fayetteville met on the tennis court Sept. 23 for the second consecutive day after both schools squared off in a makeup match Sept. 22.
Fayetteville swept both matches Tuesday by 7-2 scores.
Rogers'No. 1 singles player Karsyn Betts lost her opening match of the year against Fort Smith Southside's No. 1 singles player but hasn't been defeated since, including Tuesday's 6-3, 6-2 win against AnneMarie Beck.
Rogers No. 3 player, Michelle Kilgore, also picked up her second straight win by beating Caroline McCombs 8-3.
Fayetteville also beat Rogers 7-0 on Monday.
"Rogers came out with good fight in the doubles and took two of the three (matches ), but our guys turned it on in the singles," Fayetteville boys'coach Darin Phelan said.
John Byrd, playing No. 1 singles for Fayetteville Tuesday, beat Rogers'Luke Pascoe 6-2, 6-1. Rob Hodous, who normally plays No. 1 for the Bulldogs but was moved to No. 2 to face different competition, beat Adam Hile 6-2, 6-2. Cross Country Rogers The Rogers Mounties finished first Sept. 27 at the Hancock Cross Country Invitational in St. Louis, Mo.
The Mounties scored 52 points to finish ahead of Parkview (Mo. ) West (68 ) and Fort Zumwalt South (87 ).
The Lady Mounties finished fourth in the girls'division, led by a third-place finish from Courtney Efurd.
Cameron Efurd finished second overall in the boys'division with a time of 16 minutes, 27 seconds. Also placing in the top 20 for the Mounties was Jeremiah Fleeman (10 th ), Jordan Falls (13 th ), Anthony Melia (14 th ), and Ben Peterson (20 th ).
Courtney Efurd finished with a time of 20: 11. Also placing in the top 20 for Rogers was Ericka Owen, who finished 14 th with a time of 21: 24.
Heritage The Bentonville cross country teams swept first place at the Siloam Springs Invitational beating out Rogers Heritage in both races.
The Tigers edged the War Eagles by a point while the Lady Tigers took the girls'meet 39-36. Junior High Football Heritage vs. Fayetteville The Fayetteville Ramay Indians (1-3, 1-2 in Northwest Arkansas Conference ) took advantage of four Rogers Heritage (1-3, 0-3 ) turnovers and cruised to a 40-14 win Sept. 25 at David Gates Stadium.
Rogers vs. Springdale Springdale Central (4-0, 3-0 ) posted its third shutout of the season with Sept. 25 's win against the Mounties (0-4, 0-3 ).
