Jack Mitchell band to perform Jack Mitchell and his band will perform at 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Arend Arts Center. Guided tours at Hobbs State Park Free guided tours will be given on Shaddox Hollow Nature and Historic Van Winkle Hollow Trails at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area. One tour a day, at 9 a. m., both Saturday and Sunday, will originate at Shaddox Hollow. Four tours - at 8 a. m., 10 a. m., noon and 2 p.m. - both Saturday and Sunday will originate at the Historic Van Winkle Hollow Trail.

Dates of tours are Sept. 6-7, Sept. 20-21, Sept. 27-28 (National Public Lands Day, extra tours ), Oct. 4-5 and Oct. 18-19.

The half-mile handicapped-accessible Historic Van Winkle Hollow trail takes you back to the time of an 1858 community consisting of Peter Van Winkle, his wife and 12 children, 12 slaves, 30 other mill workers. Coalessence Festival The 1, 600-acre Lake Leatherwood Park will be the site of the Coalessence Festival, described as "uplifting the vibration of the planet with three days of music, health and consciousness."

The event begins at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, and concludes at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. Two stages will give attendees nearly constant access to speakers, music, yogis, writers, dancers and more. Tickets and further information are available online at www. coalessencefest. com.

Fall Festival Join in for the third annual Fall Festival Oct. 4 featuring Build a Scarecrow sponsored by Design-Works, a hayride and plant sale. We will provide the materials for building your very own scarecrow - you'll put it together and take it home with you. Participants are welcome and encouraged to bring accessories - hats, shoes, etc.

This is a free event, but is limited to the first 100 families. There will be baked goods, coffee, hot chocolate, and hot cider for sale, with proceeds donated to Main Street Rogers. Also climb aboard the hay bale loaded trailer and enjoy a leisurely ride around Historic Downtown. Mums and pansies will be available for your fall gardens.
