Ms. Millie and participants in St. Paul’s summer reading program look over the skeleton the students just assembled.
On June 19 and 26 and July 15, summer reading programs were held at the St. Paul School Library Media Center.
On June 19, Little House for Kids-FFFFFFF 11 was presented by St. Paul Library Media Specialist Sherry Duling, and Bunches of Bones and Main Streams was presented by Ms. Millie.
On June 26, Tomb of the Unknown Bugs was the featured presentation. On July 15, presentations of The Daily Buzz, a Teen Book Pass, and the Top Teen Read for 2008 entertained the participants.
Snacks and pizza were provided at the programs. Duling said that 147 students, teachers, and parents participated in the summer reading programs.
Thirty students, teachers, and parents have turned in their Summer Reading Journals, and as a reward for turning their reading journals in to Ms. Duling, each person will receive a summer reading Tshirt and a $ 5 gift certificate for the St. Paul School Scholastic Fall Book Fair.
Duling received a $ 2, 646. 93 grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council to fund the collaborative summer reading activities and purchase 245 books for the St. Paul School Library Media Center.
"Everyone did a great job, and we had a lot of fun," commented Duling.
