Elkins Benefit Junia West and her son, Jonathon, suffered total loss of their house and personal items due to fire. Because of this tragic loss, a benefit is being provided to help restore Junia and Jonathon's loss. There will be a gospel singing, chili supper and silent auction at the Elkins Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 5: 30 p.m. A Junia West Tragedy account has been set up at Arvest Bank. Festival Elkins PTO is sponsoring a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Elkins Elementary form 11: 30 a. m.-3 p.m. There will be games and other fun activities, which teachers will be in charge of and will allow them to raise some much needed funds for their classrooms. Hot dogs, nachos and lemonade will be served. Information booths will also be available to the community. Transportation Elkins Senior Center van is resuming transportation services for seniors. If you are 60 plus and need to go into Fayetteville for doctor's appointments, shopping, visiting friends, etc., we can take you. We have a suggested donation of $ 6. 00 for the round trip fare. This is a donation -- you pay what you feel you can afford. We'll be running the van into Fayetteville on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please call Jennifer to make an appointment-643-2741. We need several days notice if at all possible.

Lunch Lunch is served at the Elkins Senior Center beginning at 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Seniors (60-plus ) can eat lunch for a $ 2. 50 donation. The Center is open from 8 a. m to 2 p.m. Elkins Community Center hosts lunch each Friday for $ 4. Please join us.

Durham Festival The Durham Community Festival will be Oct. 11 at the Community Center with lunch served at 11 a.m. with sliced beef, shredded pork, brown beans, coleslaw, cornbread, dessert and drink. Music by Don Pelfrey, Rick Jones and their bands, kid games and pitch games for adults. Bring a chair and enjoy the afternoon.

Grand opening Terra Studios, 12103 Hazel Valley Rd., will be hosting a grand opening of the new Muse Gallery and Coffee House on from 10 a. m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, featuring work by over 30 regional artists and culinary delights by local chefs and bakeries. We invite you to visit this amazing "one of a kind"gallery, meet some of the artists and enjoy music by local folk musicians throughout the day. Free admission. Lunch The Whistle Stop Seniors will be serving lunch Oct. 3 at the Durham Community Center from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The menu will be relish and cheese tray, beef stew, cornbread, drink and dessert.

Greenland Town Meeting The Greenland School District's Town Meeting at the Greenland High School cafeteria has been rescheduled from Sept. 29 to Oct. 7 from 6-7 p.m. so that all September data is available.

Combs Party Combs Baptist Church will host a party for chidren from toddlers through junior high from 12: 00 to 2: 30 p.m. in the gym on Oct. 6. There will be lunch, games, prizes and magicians Rob and Jazmin. Come join in the fellowship and fun.
